Electrical Conductors and Insulators

Electricity travels easily through electrical conductors, like metals.

Materials that do not let electricity pass through them easily are called electrical insulators. Plastic, wood, glass and rubber are good electrical insulators.

Measuring

The boys have been measuring in cm and metres. Last week they uses small 30com rulers, large metre rulers and tape measures. Here are some photographs of the boys measuring the Astro with their trundle wheels this morning.

If you have a ruler or tape measure at home why don’t you use them to practise measuring different objects in your house?

Next week we will be weighing. Have a go at the activity below to prepare you!

Can you estimate and weigh the following items at home? A pen, bunch of keys, bag of sugar, book, carrot, orange, bottle of milk, teddy and pair of shoes.

Please comment with your estimations and measurements. Thank you.

Philosophy

We were delighted to welcome Mrs Chronias this morning as she led a philosophy session with the 2P. I will let the boys tell you what they were talking about as I do not want to spoil the surprise for 2WA next week! Nevertheless, it provided a wonderful opportunity for the class to practise their thinking skills.
