Last week we visited the building site at the school which is improving the ICT, English, PE, Latin and RE spaces at Lochinver House. We were guided round the site to check the progress of the building work, the boys gave everything the thumbs up and are looking forward to making the most of these improved facilities in the future from which they will benefit greatly.
Month: October 2013
Imagination is more important than knowledge
We had a flying (not literally) visit from none other than Albert Einstein yesterday. The boys were able to talk and ask questions of the great man. We talked about how the floor pushes back up at us, about gravity, the orbit of the earth around the sun as well as how we can think scientifically using what we already know. A thoroughly engaging and unique experience for boys and teachers alike.
Show and Tell
“Shall we learn about speech marks?” asked Mr Wild.
Use the link below to revise using speech marks in your writing. Enjoy!
Wild Things Come Alive!
Look at those Wild Things (the models not the children). We have worked really hard over the last few weeks to produce a variety of designs, shapes and colours of monster. I wonder what Max would make of these Wild Things?

Old and New
This week we enjoyed two very professional show and tells celebrating the future and the past. We had a video presentation on a computer programme which controls a robot on a series of ‘missions.’ We also had an enthusiastic and well rehearsed talk about a trip to visit HMS Victory including a model and photographs.
A Poem by 2M
This week we have been writing acrostic poems in class, here is our 2M acrostic poem about autumn.
Acorns rolling down the tree,
Underground holes where animals hibernate,
The leaves swishing and gliding from the sky,
Umbrellas go up and up for the rain,
Many red leaves gather dancing in the wind,
Niam jumping around in the wind.
Don’t forget to look out for the boys individual acrostic poems at our Harvest Assembly on Friday afternoon.
