Happy Half Term!

The boys have been busy this week with special activities such as a Diwali assembly and The Big Draw Event!

I hope you all have an enjoyable and restful half term! Below is a link to some Maths games you might like to use to practise your adding and taking away.

Have a lovely week!

Directions

Yesterday we visited Mr Walker in his office. On the way we talked about how we could give someone directions to get there. We used the words “right”, “left”, “straight on” and “forwards”. We also talked about the things that we saw on the journey.

When we got back the boys had a go at writing the directions. Some were very accurate and some would have sent us on a journey to the music room!

Journey Stick Competition

Just a reminder that the closing date for the Journey Stick Competition is Thursday 23rd October. We have had some lovely entries but it’s not too late to submit your stick! All the Journey Sticks will be judged after the half term holiday and there will be prizes for the winners! If you have any questions please do let me know.

Many thanks!

A Busy Week!

Lego day was exciting and lots of fun! The boys investigated different ways to build a car and also used sails and wind power to make the cars move.

In our Design and Technology lesson we created healthy fruit kebabs. I hope they tasted as good as they looked!

Some games to play.

This week the boys enjoyed sorting foods into different food groups. They really liked playing the game below and I promised I would put the link on the blog!

In English we have started to write an acrostic poem based on Harvest, Acrostic poems are clever because the first letter in each line spells a word. Have a go at using the Acrostic Generator below and see what poems you can make up!

Parents Evening

The appointment sheets for Parents Evening are up in the Salter Block Foyer.

Please note that these appointments are to discuss the transition into Year 2 and how your son has settled into the new class. You will receive a report next half term which will outline your sons academic progress.

I look forward to seeing you next week!

More Vegetable Soup!

I have been delighted to receive some photographs from boys who went home and made soup last night. I am sure sure you will agree that it looks delicious!

So sorry for the sideways pictures but it is not allowing me to edit them. I hope the soup doesn’t fall out of the bowl!

Vegetable Soup!

To link with our “Keeping Healthy” theme and our book of the week “Oliver’s Vegetables”, the boys prepared some of the ingredients for vegetable soup.

Please feel free to use any recipe you like but here is a general one as a guide

Extra Ingredients

  • 2tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 2tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 ½ pint of vegetable stock
  • PLUS the ingredients brought home by the boys (and any extra you may want to add)

Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a pan
  • Add the onion and cook until soft
  • Add the vegetables and the tomato puree
  • Pour in stock and cook

Please let us know via email / photograph how you get on. We hope you enjoy your soup!

Photographs will follow!
