Listen to ‘How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth’ story by Michelle Robinson https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+wash+a+woolly+mammoth&rlz=1C1GCEA_enGB766GB766&oq=how+to+wash+a+woolly&aqs=chrome.0.0j46j0j69i57j0l2j69i60j69i61.6195j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_aqH8XujYMP6l1fAPg9iFkAI96

Task 1

Imperative verbs are verbs that create an imperative sentence (i.e. a sentence that gives an order or command). When reading an imperative sentence, it will always sound like the speaker is bossing someone around. Imperative verbs don’t leave room for questions or discussion, even if the sentence has a polite tone.

Can you make a list of all the imperative (bossy) verbs used in the story? Add at least 5 more imperative verbs of your own to the list.

Task 2

Write your own instructions on how to wash an animal of your choice in the style of the book. You might want to choose a tiger, elephant, guinea pig or even a unicorn! Your instructions need to have 5 steps. Don’t forget to include a title at the top of your work to explain what your instructions are for. You should also include a list of the equipment you will need before you start the instructions.

Challenge: Include a helpful tip e.g. Be careful not to get any shampoo in the mammoth’s eyes because he might run away. If your wet, woolly mammoth has run up into a tree to get it down you will need a very strong trampoline!
