Visiting Author

Today Rob Biddulph came to talk to us about being an author and an illustrator. We were interested to hear how Rob is from Potters Bar and always wanted a job involving Art. It was inspiring to learn how a little bit of hard work and taking opportunities to practise skills can help you achieve your dreams. All the boys heard Rob Biddulph’s new book and had the chance to draw one of the characters with him!

Science- Using Medicines Safely

We have been learning how to be safe with medicines. The boys were very knowledgeable about different medicines and how they should be administered.

When we become ill we sometimes need to take medicine to make us better. We should only take medicines which are intended for us. Some people need to take medicine regularly, for example asthma sufferers.

Please comment with answers to these questions,

(1) You find some tablets on the kitchen table at home. What should you do?

(2) You have a headache while at a friend’s house. Your friend’s mum offers you some medicine. What should you do?

(3) You see your little brother playing with the cough syrup bottle. What should you do?

(4) You tell your friend you have a sore throat. She offers you some medicine the doctor gave her, when she had a sore throat last year. What should you do?

(5) Your doctor has prescribed you with a course of antibiotics for a week. After two days you feel better. What should you do?

(6) You tell your friend you have a headache. They offer you some tablets. The tablets aren’t in a packet and there is no label. What should you do?

(7) You see some children playing with different coloured tablets in the playground at school. What should you do?

(8) Can you name two suitable places for storing medicines?
