Microscopes

Our trip is next week and the boys will be using microscopes during their session at Forty Hall. In preparation, we visited the science labs today and Mrs Barry showed the boys how to use a microscope. They looked at sugar, salt and even some hair!

Enviro Day

I hope the boys have already told you all about Enviro Day! We had a great day and the boys really enjoyed learning outside. It was great to see Rec- Year 4 boys all working so well together. Here is a selection of photographs from the day.

This Week

This week the boys have been really busy and have been working so hard despite the very hot weather.

On Monday we went to the Ecology Area and looked for minibeasts.

On Tuesday the boys surprised themselves with how well they answered their comprehension questions. They all found comprehension tricky at the beginning of the year and were pleased with their progress.

On Wednesday they all had the chance to practise Touch Typing in Computing.

On Thursday we were busy making a little surprise for Father’s Day!

Finally, we have been revising subtraction and talking about different ways to work out subtraction sums. Here is a website with some useful games

Happy Birthday Lochinver

Today the boys celebrated the 70th birthday of Lochinver House School. The boys made celebratory coin mosaics, ate Lochinver themed biscuits and even got to take a balloon home! There was some great team work as the older boys expertly guided the younger ones through the activity.

Angles

Our Maths topic this week is ‘Angles’. Please look at the amazing activities on MyMaths. Please ask if you have forgotten the username and password to logon.

Comment with answers to the following questions,

1) Name four different types of angles?

2) How many degrees are there in a quarter turn?

3) Face North, turn clockwise through three right angles. Which direction are you now facing? How many degrees have you turned through?
