On Wednesday 1st March Year 2 will be carrying out some Caribbean food tasting. Please could you bring in one item of Caribbean themed food for the boys to taste. This could be something from the supermarket, your local market or something you have decided to cook or bake. All contributions will be happily received. Please could you include a list of the ingredients if they are not stated on the packaging.

2Quiz is the latest addition to the Purple Mash suite of tools. It allows teachers and children to create and share their own digital quizzes.
To celebrate the release, Purple Mash are running the ‘2Quiz Maths Competition‘. Boys can enter by creating their own themed maths quiz. The winning child will receive a hamper of great maths themed prizes, plus our school will get £100 to spend on maths resources.

Staying safe online
The competition Display Board will be visible to the public, so it’s important not to include personal information in your entries. Don’t use names or other personal information as part of the designs. Any entries that include personal information won’t be accepted or displayed on the board. The only information visible on the board will be the school name.
I have really enjoyed reading such an interesting and creative range of stories, boys. You all have such wonderful imaginations. I realise how difficult it is to write something when you are only allowed to use 500 words but you have all written something very special.

PEDRO’S UNDERWATER ADVENTURE.
One wintry day at the start of December , Pedro , a ten year old boy was sitting at the top of the blue and red double decker bus . It was raining very heavily and the rain water was gushing through the drains .
The bus driver screeched the brakes sharply and Pedro flew right out of the bus and fell into a manhole. It seemed like a dark steep passageway . Pedro was travelling at maximum speed with water flowing rapidly . As soon as he reached the end of the passageway , he saw a bright blue underwater city. His eyes sparkled and watered with tears of joy.
The underwater city was beautiful and had houses and buildings made of coral and sea sponge. The underwater city was lighted with sparkling rainbow colours. Pedro saw brightly coloured fishes of different shapes and sizes. One of the clown fish touched Pedro and he turned into a fish! He had red and blue fins and an orange body. Soon he started to make new fishy friends.
The next day ,his fishy friends invited him for a picnic at fishy beach. They were all so excited to go to fishy beach with their new friend Pedro. As they were playing with a beach ball, suddenly the ball started floating away with the waves. The fishy gang started swimming towards the ball. Whilst they were swimming they heard a big loud noise and at a distance they a saw a big black and white whale shark. It was swimming towards them at rocket speed , by moving its body side to side . The whale shark got closer and closer, it opened its mouth and in went the whole fishy gang.
It was dark and spooky and the fishy gang did not know where they were. After a few moments one fishy friend said “gang we are inside the whale shark’s stomach!”
They were all terrified of the dark and wondered how they would survive. Pedro trying to be very bold, said, “don’t worry be happy gang I have a brilliant idea.” He said “I know how to talk fishy language!” ” I will make him laugh with funny jokes.”
Pedro said ” blo blo bla bla bling” which meant “where do whale sharks bank their money?” Answer:- ” In a river bank! ” Listening to this the whale shark laughed ‘ha..ha..ha and started to laugh so hard with his mouth wide open. Suddenly, the whole fishy gang was projected out of his mouth , and in flash were back in the underwater city.
The fishy gang thanked Pedro for rescuing them from the ginormous whale shark. He became the hero of the underwater city , and was awarded a medal by the mayor of underwater city ,Mayor Boris. All the fishes and the fishy gang cheered and clapped for Pedro.
As soon as Pedro touched the medal, to his surprise ,he disappeared and came back to the adventures of the real world.
The Rich ninja and the Trees.
A ninja was walking in a creepy forest. It was in the middle of the night. He saw a fox and a wolf. The soil was damp. The trees were alive. The trees were looking at him and they surrounded him with their scratchy, itchy leaves. There was a king tree. The ninja was scared a lot. He saw a tiger and a rhino, who were fighting. He climbed a tall tree and met a little monkey. He had brown eyes and a long curly tail. The monkey said,
“Hello, please can I be your sidekick?”
“Yes of course you can”, said the ninja.
The monkey was on a mission to find his friend. He was tired and hungry. The ninja said,
“Are you ok?”
His friend replied, “I am ok. How are you?”
“Yes I’m ok but my dear monkey do you have a big bucket of water?”
“Yes I do, why do you need it?”
“I am going to capture the queen tree. The queen tree is evil and she gives the other trees evil orders. She makes the other trees sad. I need to use the water as some bait. We will capture her with a cowboy lasso and we will take her away and put her in a dungeon and keep her there forever or until she is kind; only then will we let her go. We will be rich and famous forever. Monkey, do you have a robot to help us?”
“Yes I do, he is called Severn”.
“We need him to spy on the trees”.
Suddenly they saw a spaceship. It had crashed and there were big, sparkly flames. They were bubbling and were hotter than lava. There was a very small alien. He said,
“Can I be your friend please?”
“Yes of course you can. You can can be Monkey’s friend too”, said the ninja.
The alien said, “here, have some sweets and some crisps. They are salty and crunchy.”
“Yes thank-you, they are nice, mmm. Now we need to make a house and a wall. We will make a wall out of bricks and sticks. We will have a tent house and the wall will keep us safe. We can have a camp fire and we can roast marshmallows. It will be nice and fun. We can have sleeping bags. Alien can have a green one because he is green, I will have a red one because my suit is red and monkey can have a gold one with brown stripes.”
So they made a camp and set the trap for the queen tree. When they had caught her they celebrated.
The ninja said, “it is Monkey’s birthday tomorrow, we can have a surprise party and sing;
“Happy Birthday to you, happy Birthday to you, happy Birthday dear monkey, happy Birthday to you. We can have games and party bags with sweets and paper hats.”
He was so relieved that the forest was peaceful again and not scary anymore now that the queen tree had been caught. Everyone could go to sleep now.

Once upon a time, there was a piece of cheese with holes in it, it lived in a man’s snack pot. You might think a snack pot is a bad place to live, but it’s good for a piece of cheese. The roof was a see though lid and the view was his man’s pocket.
One day when the cheese was chilling and looking at the view he saw a giant statue made of silver with four spears on the end banging against the roof of his house. A crazy fork lifted off the roof with ease and came for the piece of cheese. But the cheese was fast. The fork stabbed at the cheese but hit the holes instead. Time to escape…
Being flat he slithered down the man’s trouser leg and out onto the street. There were many enemies waiting for him to come outside… rats, mice, birds, bicycles and people. All of them wanted to squash him or eat him. Now don’t forget that this cheese had lived in a snack pot for a long time and he had a secret….he hadn’t had a shower in years. He stunk!
It was then that the cheese realised his superpower…the power of stench. He was not just a piece of cheese …he was ‘smell cheesy boy’. All around him his enemies were collapsing on the floor “urgh something stinks’ His mission was to save pack lunches all across the world. His holes allowed him to hear those in distress…
Mission number 1: Some bread being eaten by ducks in the park.
Being a flappy piece of cheese he flew to the park, don’t worry bread…smelly cheese boy is here to the rescue. “Get of my bottom” said the bread to the ducks, “stop pecking it” The ducks smelt something in the air , what was it….it was a piece of smelly cheese . With that they all ran away. Your my hero said the bread, I don’t care that you smell.
Mission number 2: A piece of birthday cake being squashed by a toddler
“Help smelly cheese boy a toddler is crushing my icing “ shouted a birthday cake on the other side of town. In flapped smelly cheese boy…”waa waa waa” cried the toddler and ran away.
Mission number 3: Bread in the oven
Help me cried the bread as he was being toasted. He was in a boiling desert called Oveni, tied to a grill. In swooped smelly cheese boy, he pulled out his friend….but aghhhh Cheeseboy starts to melt. , ‘im going stretchy’. Cheese boy manages to escape but he feels poorly, he needs to go on a holiday to recover.
Cheeseboy flies to Fridgeland. A cold place, perfect for eating icecream, relaxing and recovering. All the other holiday makers run away from cheeseboy..urggghhh whats that smell?! Except one.Miss Gorgonzol!. She says why hi there handsome. And the two cheeses fall in love and live happily ever after at the back of the fridge.
